Princeton Wellness

Princeton City School District recognizes that good nutrition and regular physical activity affect the health and well-being of the District’s students and staff. Research suggests that there is a positive correlation between a student or staff member’s health and well-being and their ability to learn and work effectively. The family, community and schools can each play an important role in the developmental process for students so that they can establish their health and nutritional habits. Princeton supports wellness by offering students nutritious meals and snacks through meal programs, supporting the development of good eating habits, and by promoting increased physical activity both in and out of school.

The district is also committed to the development of the whole child and will encourage healthy living as well as social-emotional well-being. In many instances, it takes collaboration, family engagement, staff engagement, and partnerships to develop students’ healthy behaviors and habits with regard to eating and exercise.

Princeton City Schools Wellness Policy

The Alliance for a Healthier Generation is a catalyst for children’s health. We work with schools, companies, community organizations, healthcare professionals and families to transform the conditions and systems that lead to healthier kids.

Our goal is to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity and to empower kids to develop lifelong, healthy habits. Founded by the American Heart Association and Clinton Foundation, we are collaborative change-makers working to create a nation where children thrive. We collaborate with and empower people and leaders to transform the environments that can make a difference in a child’s health: homes, schools, doctor’s offices and communities.

We believe that...

If we can empower the people who influence these environments by giving them easy access to the best resources and science-based best practices, we can create a movement that transforms the places kids spend their time into healthy environments that encourage sustainable lifestyles.

Change comes when individuals, groups, and systems work together to create healthy environments for kids.
