Intra-District Enrollment

Intra-district Enrollment – School Year 2024-2025

Applicable to families who reside within the boundaries of the Princeton School District wishing to make application for their elementary school student to attend a building other than their assigned attendance area elementary.

The application period is January 4, 2023, through February 29, 2024. Additional information has been mailed to the home address of currently enrolled students. All elementary students who attend a school not in their neighborhood and are not assigned to another school due to program offerings must apply each year to continue an intra-district transfer. Transportation will again be provided to those students who are accepted for an intra-district transfer within established bus routes and bus stops within the District. Intra-district transfers are made in alignment with district policies and guidelines.

All applications must be submitted in person at the elementary building of the parent's first choice. Please indicate your first, second, and third school building choice. The building principal will determine if the criteria for eligibility can be met. Acceptance will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications will be time-stamped as they are received.

Application for intra-district enrollment must be made on a yearly basis.

Since the Princeton City School District has only one middle school and one high school, intra-district enrollment guidelines are not applicable for students in grades six through twelve.

Only students in kindergarten through grade five who are residents and officially enrolled and attending a Princeton City School District school are eligible for the intra-district enrollment program. Intra-district enrollment may not create building/class size overcrowding. Intra-district transfers should also promote the diversity of the student population in the District’s schools, classrooms, and programs through consideration of each applicant’s educational needs and abilities, cultural and socioeconomic background, unique experiences, and the impact on racial balance.

Students receiving special education services are required to attend the school within the district where the services specified in the student’s Individualized Educational Program are currently available.

Parents of students in grades kindergarten through five for the 2024-2025 school year will be notified of intra-district placement during the summer of 2024. The student, once assigned, must remain in the intra-district assigned school for the entire school year.  Attendance places a critical role in student performance. Students who have five or more tardies, late arrival pickups, or absences may result in the student being sent back to his or her attendance area school.

Application(s) for Intra-district enrollment along with Princeton City School District Policy 5113.01 regarding Intra-district Open Enrollment may be obtained at any Princeton Elementary School.
